View is committed
to engaging and building co-operative relationships with indigenous
communities and their representatives. We are achieving our
objectives through close relationship with Carey Mining.
As part of the Acquisition of Bronzewing, the View/Carey Trust will be established with the aim to provide training, scholarships and other advancement opportunities for the local indigenous communities.
The trust will commence with a $200k deposit in October 2004, with $2 per ounce produced contribution for the first 500,000 ounces produced.
Established in 1995, Carey Mining is an indigenous owned and
managed mining and civil contractor, with a current workforce
of 50 employees, predominantly indigenous, employed at six
sites across WA.
Carey’s strategic vision is to create meaningful long
term employment and training opportunities for a significant
number of indigenous people, backed up with both on and off
site support infrastructure.
Carey has substantial contracts with major companies including
mining joint ventures at Sunrise Dam for Anglogold and Thunderbox
for Lionore Mining, a drill and blast joint venture at Carosue
Dam for Sons of Gwalia, and a contract to provide indigenous
personnel for the John Holland/Macmahon $140 million contract
on the Tonkin Highway extension.
Carey Mining is a shareholder in View Resources.
